Abstract

The present study was carried out in the Ambohidray protected area which is located in the rural
municipality of Morarano-Gara, District Moramanga, Region Alaotra-Mangoro. According to
the research carried out by Toussaint RABARY having a theme "Proposal for a management
plan for the new protected area Ambohidray" supported on December 21, 2018. The tourist
attractions represented by the said forest and the village are very varied which allow to develop
sustainable tourism ranging from biological attractions made up of endemic species of fauna
and flora, physical attractions marked by a superb landscape, socio-cultural attractions
including the population and their habits and customs. However, the site is still unknown to the
public and is under a lot of pressure. In addition, there is no accommodation and catering
infrastructure on site and the local guides do not yet have the necessary capacity to welcome
visitors. Indeed, the study highlights the ecotourism potential and suggests the development of
these circuits as well as the establishment of hotel infrastructure in the village. A first step in
the study of the area has been proposed in this study.
