Abstract
During fourteen weeks, from November 27, 2007 to March 3, 2008, a traditional fishing
survey has been done in Ankilibe village, Southwest Madagascar, with a random sampling
strategy.
In the meantime, after defining the methodology for the investigation, a fishing state
description - gears, techniques and exploited species, has been made in order to contemplate
an adequate management propositions to the situation.
In this study, the evolution of the catch per unit effort results to each type of gears,
comparing to the other results for similar studies in that village, has been allowed by
calculation after the data collecting.
Numerous documentations have been carried out to establish an outline of the survey
showing the evolution of the number of the fishers, pirogues and gears comparing to the
increasing number of the population.
