Abstract
Marine organisms are constituted by an immense reservoir of interesting bioactive
molecules which are of interest to be studied. The aim of this study is to highlight the
biological activities, including the antioxidant activity, of macroalgae from the
Sarodrano reef, Toliara. This study was made during the years 2014 and 2015, and was
carried out mainly on four species of marine algae such as Halymenia durvillei,
Gracilaria sp, Sargassum latifolium and Turbinaria ornata. In first, the hydroalcohol
extraction was made, followed by phytochemical screenings to identify some chemical
families. In a second step, the biological activity of the obtained totals and desalted
extracts was studied by the DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhyrasyl). The
antioxidant properties were measured and demonstrated by the percentages of inhibition
and reduction kinetics. The results indicate a significant activity of Gracilaria sp (14.33
± 0.52 mg / ml IC50) compared to the three other species where it has considerable
activity during the warm season.
